Supporting Local Music

Outstanding music-making is something that is rooted in each of our schools. As such, the Foundation's passion for facilitating transformational music opportunities for pupils naturally extends to the local community.

We are proud to support a large variety of musical groups and organisations in order to enhance the quality and accessibility of musical opportunities for young people within the local community.

At the core of this, we support music groups to hold workshops, rehearsals and performances on a regular basis - including those groups using Foundation facilities for rehearsals or performances, the Foundation hosting regional and national music competitions, and utilising partnerships in order to extend the scope of musical opportunities.

Some of the main examples of how we proudly support local music include:

With Warwick - A Singing Town:

  • Provide weekly singing tuition via our Choral Entrepreneurs for State Primary Schools within the Warwick CV34 Postcode

  • Provide Sing for Joy community choirs based at Chase Meadow Community Centre; school wellbeing visits to Warwick Hospital and local residential homes

  • Support community events (e.g. Rotary concert) - Singing workshops days; The Big Local Night Out at the Bridge House Theatre, singing stages within the community

With our partners at Orchestra of the Swan:

  • Provide WoW days in Primary Schools within Warwick, bringing the instruments of the Orchestra into schools

  • The establishment of the Swan Youth Orchestra, which provides the opportunity for pupils from Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull to perform alongside and learn from the professional Swan Orchestra

  • Hosting two Orchestral Days: one for Primary School pupils and one for Secondary school pupils from across Warwickshire

  • Warwick Hall, on the Foundation site, acting as the primary concert venue for three Orchestra concerts a year, including regular open rehearsals for local primary school students

With Warwickshire Music:

  • We host the Warwickshire County Youth Wind Band and Warwickshire County Youth String Orchestra weekly

  • We also host the Warwickshire Youth choirs weekly rehearsals and regular workshops

We also proudly:

  • Act as the regular weekly rehearsal venue for The Contemporary Choir Warwickshire;

  • Host the regional finals and the national Final of the National Concert Band Festival;

  • Act as the performance venue for the Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir;

  • Provide a string scheme for Year 3 pupils at Westgate Primary School

  • Provide trumpet/buglers for remembrance parades in schools and for churches across the town

  • Host regional finals of the Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition, and;

  • Provide a number of choristers for the choirs at St Mary’s Church Warwick.

This culture of support is enabled by our Venues and Events team, who liaise with schools and organisations in order to determine how we can best support their needs. In recent times, this has included:

  • Warwickshire Youth Choir
  • Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra
  • Canticum
